{"id":122,"date":"2011-03-09T16:42:42","date_gmt":"2011-03-09T16:42:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wensmedia.com\/\/salesarchive\/permalink\/2011\/3\/9\/114242.html"},"modified":"2011-03-09T16:42:42","modified_gmt":"2011-03-09T16:42:42","slug":"bloggrs-bashing-radio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/uncategorized\/bloggrs-bashing-radio\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloggrs Bashing Radio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 18pt\">Bloggers Bashing Radio<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">I regularly Google topics like &lsquo;radio advertising tips&rsquo; or &lsquo;marketing trends&rsquo; to broaden my knowledge and learn new marketing tactics.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">You would be shocked to learn what some of the alleged &lsquo;experts&rsquo; are saying online about radio advertising. <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: 0.5in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Many of these sites are obviously administered by computer-geeks and wanna-be gurus who write about our media out of sheer ignorance.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: 0.5in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Yesterday, during one such search, I found a site that claimed to offer &ldquo;Streetwise Advertising Tips.&rdquo;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: 0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Here is some of what they had to say about radio.<\/span><\/div>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0in\" type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">&ldquo;What you should typically expect through negotiation is half of the published rate.&rdquo;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">&ldquo;A Boston station which typically sold morning drive spots for $150 sold me a package deal for $10.&rdquo;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">&ldquo;Don&rsquo;t believe radio sales people for a minute.&rdquo;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">&ldquo;They skip client&rsquo;s ads on a regular basis.&rdquo;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-indent: 0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Another site I found, which claimed to objectively overview all media, did not distinguish between radio and TV, and simply said, &ldquo;Broadcast is too expensive for most small or new businesses to consider.&rdquo; &nbsp;&nbsp;Of course, they claimed blogging to be the best marketing tool on earth.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: 0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">The sad reality is a lot of small businesses count on the internet as their research tool and they cannot decipher the difference between the quacks and the legitimate sites.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: 0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Now, more than ever, we need to quit beating up our fellow broadcasters. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(the geeks do that quite well already).<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: 0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">You need to educate your market about radio&rsquo;s strengths and where you fit in a successful advertising strategy.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\">Our <u><span style=\"color: blue\">SoundADvice<\/span><\/u> gives your clients and prospects proven marketing tips every week, while positioning you as a marketing professional they can trust. <\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bloggers Bashing Radio &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I regularly Google topics like &lsquo;radio advertising tips&rsquo; or &lsquo;marketing trends&rsquo; to broaden my knowledge and learn new marketing tactics.
