{"id":139,"date":"2010-06-24T16:52:11","date_gmt":"2010-06-24T16:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wensmedia.com\/\/salesarchive\/permalink\/2010\/6\/24\/125211.html"},"modified":"2010-06-24T16:52:11","modified_gmt":"2010-06-24T16:52:11","slug":"whos-the-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/uncategorized\/whos-the-boss\/","title":{"rendered":"Who&#8217;s the Boss?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><span style=\"font-size: 22pt\"><font face=\"Tahoma\">Who&rsquo;s the Boss<span style=\"color: black\">?<\/span><\/font><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<font face=\"Tahoma\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I hate the word &lsquo;boss&rsquo;. &nbsp;<span style=\"color: black\">The Webster&rsquo;s dictionary says to &lsquo;boss&rsquo; is &ldquo;<i>to order about in a domineering way&rdquo;.<\/i><\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><font face=\"Tahoma\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I once presented a strategic plan to a large broadcast group in which I&nbsp;proposed their sales people would work for their clients and their management people would work for their employees.<\/font><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><font face=\"Tahoma\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The president of the company <span style=\"color: black\">asked, &ldquo;If<\/span> the salespeople work for our clients, and our managers work for our staff, who the heck is working for the company?&rdquo;&nbsp;He just <span style=\"color: black\">didn&rsquo;t get it.&nbsp;His company would reach its goals if his managers helped their people reach their goals and their people in turn, helped their customers reach<\/span> their goals.<\/font><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><font face=\"Tahoma\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The most successful managers hire people who have a passion to do their jobs to the best of their ability&hellip;these people don&rsquo;t need a boss. These managers realize their job is not to &lsquo;boss&rsquo;, but rather to give their people access to the&nbsp;tools, training, people, resources and environment that allows them to be more productive.<\/font><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><font face=\"Tahoma\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; So if you&rsquo;re a manger, here&rsquo;s an idea.
