Long gone are the days of shaking hands and kissing babies. Today, it\u2019s all about mudslinging, name calling, twisting the truth and \u201che said\/she said\u201d propaganda!<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>But, one lesson that can and should be learned from the GOOD political campaigns is that they have a STRATEGY!\u00a0All GREAT advertising campaigns, whether they\u2019re for products, services, or politics, start with GREAT strategy. They absolutely know what they want to be \u201cknown for\u201d and what they want to \u201caccomplish\u201d with their advertising and marketing.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>We may not like\u00a0their\u00a0strategy, but in the political advertising and marketing world it works.\u00a0I refer to it as \u201cNegative Repositioning\u201d, and it plays on the\u00a0FEAR emotion.\u00a0To make it work, it takes two things; lots of money and a lack of moral conscience!\u00a0And in the political advertising world, all normal rules and ethics seem to be tossed out the window.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>So, what is Negative Repositioning?\u00a0 It&#8217;s simply a way to get you to vote AGAINST someone rather than voting FOR their candidate. It\u2019s not necessarily to get you to like Candidate A over Candidate B, but rather to DISLIKE one more than the other.\u00a0Keep in mind, neither of the candidates are going to be put on a shelf in a store where you can go in and buy one or the other, it\u2019s a vote.\u00a0\u00a0In the political world, the vote is all that matters.\u00a0WARNING: &#8220;Negative Repositioning\u201d should never be used to market a product or service!<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>The lesson you can learn from the political advertising seasons is\u00a0how important \u201cStrategy\u201d is in your marketing campaign.\u00a0\u00a0Know what your clients want to be \u201cknown for\u201d, then write ad campaigns that speak to that!<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Thanks for reading, and know that we won\u2019t be talking politics for another two years!
