I\u2019m not referring to your personal reputation, but rather to our industry\u2019s reputation.\u00a0Much of it is well deserved! \u00a0The old method of training our sales teams was to have them watch a few Chris Lytle and Jason Jennings videos, hand them a phone book along with the latest \u201cPackages\u201d of the week, month and quarter, and send them out to the streets.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Business owners are on the receiving end of the process from the untrained, rabid, sale reps that are unleashed onto the city streets, each proclaiming they have the greatest radio stations and perfect listeners.\u00a0Oh, and it\u2019s cheap!\u00a0All you have to do is sign here and, in a few days, people will start knocking down your doors!<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Agencies are a little more subdued in their approach.\u00a0They claim they are not biased towards any specific advertising medium.\u00a0Some suggest they have buying power and can purchase the same products for less, and they claim they are the experts.\u00a0To put a cherry on top, they\u2019ll flash a few nice plaques and trophies to prove their points!<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>So, how do you combat this? \u00a0Start with not proclaiming that RADIO is the best advertising medium ever invented. \u00a0This won\u2019t get you very far.\u00a0Discuss the positives AND negatives of all the different advertising mediums and make recommendations for others when appropriate.\u00a0Discuss why and how advertising works, talk strategy, help create ideas.\u00a0Talk more about them, their wishes, their hopes and dreams and less, much less, about your stations.\u00a0Put your own cherry on top and discuss your group&#8217;s success stories. \u00a0Talk like a Marketing Professional &#8211; You\u2019ll earn more respect!<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>If you\u2019re going to Walk the Walk, make sure you can Talk the Talk!<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>If you are looking for help with training your team to become more professional, more knowledgeable Media Reps, we would honor the opportunity to visit.\u00a0Simply\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:rick@ensmediausa.com\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>\u00a0and let\u2019s talk about how ENS Media can help!<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why is it that Media Reps aren\u2019t granted the same instant credibility as agencies?\u00a0Primarily, it has to do with our reputation.
