{"id":1760,"date":"2020-02-05T19:39:40","date_gmt":"2020-02-05T19:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/?p=1760"},"modified":"2020-02-05T19:39:40","modified_gmt":"2020-02-05T19:39:40","slug":"media-rep-malpractice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/uncategorized\/media-rep-malpractice\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Rep Malpractice"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Most commonly used in the context of medicine and law, malpractice is defined as, \u201cimproper, illegal, or negligent professional activity or treatment\u201d.\u00a0But malpractice is no stranger to the advertising world either.\u00a0You can google &#8220;advertising malpractice&#8221; and find many interesting stories, mostly regarding fraudulent advertising claims.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>The one word in the definition of malpractice that I want to focus on is\u00a0negligent.\u00a0First, so we are on the same page, the definition of negligent is, \u201cfailing to take proper care in doing something\u201d, and I would add to this definition, \u201cthat we know should be done\u201d.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>As a media rep selling advertising, what is your job? Is it to sell ads? Is it to help your clients get results from their advertising investment? Is it to service the account so they have the best chance of achieving success?\u00a0The answer is, \u201cYes!\u201d<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Once you convince a prospect to do business with you, they become your client.\u00a0It\u2019s then your job to service that client so they have the best chance of getting a return on their investment.\u00a0Anything less is negligence, or \u201cMedia Rep Malpractice\u201d.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>The most common case of MRM (Media Rep Malpractice) is not updating copy.\u00a0The only excuse for not updating copy on a regular basis is because your client asks to keep the same ad running.\u00a0Even then, you\u2019re responsible to advise them that airing the same ad over and over isn\u2019t in their best interest.\u00a0When you do, you are no longer negligent.\u00a0Equally as common is once the sale is made, we don\u2019t show up again until the schedule is over.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Media reps are just like doctors and lawyers; there are good ones and bad ones.\u00a0Are you doing what you should to make sure you\u2019re a good one?\u00a0Always provide solid and truthful information, never over-promise, and always over-deliver.\u00a0If you do, you\u2019ll never be accused of \u201cMedia Rep Malpractice\u201d.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most commonly used in the context of medicine and law, malpractice is defined as, \u201cimproper, illegal, or negligent professional activity or treatment\u201d.\u00a0But malpractice is no stranger to the advertising world either.\u00a0You can google &#8220;advertising malpractice&#8221; and find many interesting stories, mostly regarding fraudulent advertising claims.
