{"id":1769,"date":"2020-02-26T17:14:08","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T17:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/?p=1769"},"modified":"2020-02-26T17:14:08","modified_gmt":"2020-02-26T17:14:08","slug":"oldies-but-goodies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/uncategorized\/oldies-but-goodies\/","title":{"rendered":"Oldies but Goodies!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>The phrase \u201coldie but goodie\u201d is sometimes used when describing someone older in age, a favorite grandparent, maybe an old horse, or even a piece of equipment or technique.\u00a0But most typically, \u201coldie but goodie\u201d is used when referring to music, movies, jokes, things that relate to entertainment.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>While most people don\u2019t equate commercials to entertainment, I suggest that the really great commercials are just that; they are entertaining, and this is why they are classified as great.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Recently, GEICO has brought back several classic commercials dating back to 1997. A few include \u201cWoodchuck Chucking Wood\u201d, \u201cPinocchio\u201d, \u201cHump-Day\u201d, \u201cThe Squirrels\u201d,\u00a0and my favorite, \u201cMaxwell the Pig\u201d.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Another example of this is the State Farm campaign, \u201cJake and his Khakis\u201d,\u00a0and the infamous line, \u201cand what are you wearing, Jake from State Farm?\u201d<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>So when is it ok to rerun an old ad or ad campaign?\u00a0The short answer is &#8230; when it\u2019s a good ad, or better yet, when it\u2019s a GREAT ad!<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Have you written a great ad or two in the past? Both State Farm and GEICO have suggested, and possibly even proven, that it\u2019s ok to pull them out of the old production file and air them again.\u00a0I would caution though that a little time should pass before you re-air them, a minimum of two years. However, I have also heard more than one great ad, specifically holiday ads that hit the emotional button, re-aired year after year that are still very impactful.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>It\u2019s easy to write and produce boring basic ads.\u00a0However, the ideas for great ads are hard to come up with and even harder to create and produce.\u00a0When they have run their course, don\u2019t file these great ads away forever.\u00a0The \u201cOldies but Goodies\u201d will always be good, and at some point, worth airing again.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The phrase \u201coldie but goodie\u201d is sometimes used when describing someone older in age, a favorite grandparent, maybe an old horse, or even a piece of equipment or technique.\u00a0But most typically, \u201coldie but goodie\u201d is used when referring to music, movies, jokes, things that relate to entertainment.
