{"id":2051,"date":"2021-05-18T17:20:19","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T17:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/?p=2051"},"modified":"2021-05-18T17:20:19","modified_gmt":"2021-05-18T17:20:19","slug":"nobody-never-everyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/uncategorized\/nobody-never-everyone\/","title":{"rendered":"Nobody \u2013 Never \u2013 Everyone"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Be honest&#8230; when was the last time you used these words or others like them when talking about other advertising mediums or your competition?\u00a0In return, when was the last time a client or prospect used these words, and you became defensive?<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>It\u2019s common to hear comments from clients like:<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cNobody listens to radio anymore, do they?\u00a0I never listen to radio anymore!\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cIsn\u2019t everyone on Facebook?\u201d<\/em>,\u00a0or&#8230;<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cNo one is on Facebook today, isn\u2019t everyone on Instagram or Tic-Tok?\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cEveryone has a social media account.\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cEveryone gets their music from Pandora, Spotify, or SiriusXM.\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cNobody reads the newspaper anymore!\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cNo one listens to, watches, or reads commercials.\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>In return, as media reps we say things like:<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cNo one uses Facebook anymore!\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cNobody reads the newspaper today!\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cEveryone still listens to radio.\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><em>\u201cNobody watches regular TV these days!\u201d<\/em><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>If you are using these words in this context, Stop!\u00a0Nobody,\u00a0<em>Never<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Everyone\u00a0<\/em>are overused, misleading, and dangerous words.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>However, when they are spoken by a client, a prospect, or even by yourself, you can use them to your advantage. Knowing when you use them, catching yourself, and then correcting yourself can be immensely powerful.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Clients want to hear the truth. For example, if you catch yourself saying,\u00a0<em>\u201cNo one reads the newspaper anymore<\/em>\u201d, it\u2019s an opportunity to say,\u00a0<em>\u201cPardon me, I misspoke. Actually, there are lots of people that still read the newspaper, just not nearly as many as a few years ago and unfortunately for the newspaper industry, that number continues to slide\u201d<\/em>.\u00a0If your client says this, correct them. They\u2019ll respect you for it and then ultimately trust you more because of it.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>On the other hand, if a client makes a bold statement and says something like,\u00a0<em>\u201cNobody listens to radio anymore\u201d<\/em>,\u00a0don\u2019t immediately get defensive and refute what they said. Instead, say something like,\u00a0<em>\u201cWhy do you think that\u201d<\/em>,\u00a0or,\u00a0<em>\u201cWhat makes you say this?<\/em>\u201d\u00a0Find out what they are thinking before you answer.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Knowing the statistic as to how many people consume the different mediums and platforms is especially important. After all,\u00a0knowledge\u00a0is power, but knowing the proper way to respond to our clients is even more powerful.<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>The old saying \u201cNever say Never\u201d\u00a0is true, and so are, \u201cNever say Nobody\u201d\u00a0and \u201cNever say Everyone\u201d!
