{"id":93,"date":"2011-06-12T16:06:38","date_gmt":"2011-06-12T16:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wensmedia.com\/\/salesarchive\/permalink\/2011\/6\/12\/120638.html"},"modified":"2011-06-12T16:06:38","modified_gmt":"2011-06-12T16:06:38","slug":"error-by-omission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ensmediausa.com\/ens-on-sales\/uncategorized\/error-by-omission\/","title":{"rendered":"Error By Omission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 18pt\">Error by Omission<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I&rsquo;ve had it with broadcast sales and management types accepting the misleading information disseminated by digital media &lsquo;gurus&rsquo;!<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Their blogs, media releases and seminars might not lie, buy they certainly leave out important information about our heightened role in the new media landscape&hellip;.and we let them!<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I recently spoke at a broadcast association conference where one of my fellow speakers was a &lsquo;Facebook guru&rsquo;.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She posed this question to an audience of radio and TV managers;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">&ldquo;If you wake up tomorrow with a terrible toothache are you more likely to;<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: -0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in\"><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">a.)<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">Go to the mailbox and hope Valpak has a dentist&rsquo;s coupon?<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: -0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in\"><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">b.)&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">Search the internet on Google for dentists?<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: -0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in\"><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">c.)<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman'\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">Go to a friend you trust on Facebook to recommend a dentist?&rdquo;<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">The answer to this loaded question was all too obvious. But not one of the broadcasters in the room stood up to pose a fourth option;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-indent: -0.25in; margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in\"><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">d.)&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">&ldquo;Call a dentist who had created an awareness and preference and presold you with a consistent radio or TV campaign?&rdquo;<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">Again, the answer would be obvious because you wouldn&rsquo;t have to go online or search anywhere&hellip;.you already have an awareness and familiarity with a dentist who has properly branded his\/her practice!<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Radio is old news. No one goes to their industry conferences to hear about radio&hellip;they&rsquo;ve been there, done that. And your prospects&rsquo; trade magazines aren&rsquo;t publishing articles about anything old or traditional&hellip;.that&rsquo;s just not news.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The digital media bloggers, consultants, authors and guru&rsquo;s don&rsquo;t mention us either.
